“I truly believe that our body is the most marvellous living machine. It deserves our best possible care and should be our most important investment”

Daniel Schwager - CNHC, MRSS, MAcuC

Growing up in Switzerland, I have always enjoyed a very active outdoor lifestyle, playing a wide range of summer and winter sports at a competitive level, which resulted in numerous sports injuries. It was through receiving considerable rehabilitation treatment for my own injuries that sparked my interest in western forms of physical therapy.

In my 20’s, during my years travelling and living in Asia, I was introduced to Traditional Oriental Medicine and its holistic approaches to understanding health. This inspired me to train in Eastern methods of bodywork and healing arts, including Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Reiki, Yoga and Meditation.

Training

My training as a Manual Soft Tissue Therapist began in Switzerland in 1994. I was lucky to bring my talent and sensitivity for touch into the study of Remedial Massage, engaging in the study of Swedish, Sports and Deep Tissue Massage in 1995.

In 1996/97 I studied an advanced level of training in Soft Tissue Therapy, learning manipulative techniques for the hands-on rehabilitation of sports injuries in London.

In 1999 I qualified from a 3-year training course in Shiatsu, a Japanese form of acupressure bodywork based on the concept of Traditional Oriental Medicine and it’s way to treat body and mind.

I followed this up with a postgraduate Shiatsu study in London and Zurich, studied with some of the most experienced teachers in this field and took a teachers training course with the European Shiatsu School in 2000/02.

This eventually led me into the study of Traditional Japanese Acupuncture and TCM or Chinese Acupuncture.

In 1998 I graduated from the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in India as a Yoga Teacher and I continually develops my practice and teaching using different styles and techniques of yoga and pilates.
